Age is never a barrier when it comes to having fun!
It’s been a while since I had some real adventure and this trip was the most spontaneous one. So we (my husband, a friend or ours and I) started the trip by visiting the Ghost Village, Al Madam. The sun rise is very beautiful to experience from this abandoned village. Will describe that experience in another blog post. Once we finished exploring Madam, we thought why not head to see the Hatta Dam, but, to our disappointment it was closed for renovations. So we drove around aimlessly and stopped at a cafeteria, where the guy there told us about Hatta Wadi Hub. And that’s where we came down to the main event/experience of the day – Go Gravity!
Hatta Wadi Hub is almost an hour and a half minutes drive from Dubai. This is where Go Gravity is located. There are a few adventure sports you can indulge in like the Mountain Slide Zorbing, Gel Ball, Football Zorbing, Tube Slide and Rover. I never thought in my wildest dreams that we would be trying anything at all, I thought we would just see the place and come back. But, I was wrong. We went for Gel Ball & Rover. To be honest, it was my first ever experience with guns! You heard me right! Gel ball is a shooting game which is very similar to paint ball shooting, but not as messy. Imagine being dressed up in all that gear – helmet, protective vest, goggles and the gun at 1:30PM on a winter afternoon, don’t be fooled by the word winter, it was hot! The guy there teaches us to reload the gel balls and assigns us each our base where we stop to refill ammo. He explains the rules and then the game begins. The adrenaline rush was phenomenal, the way your survival instinct kicks in is wow! It was awesome. Both the men sort of teamed up and I was all alone trying to keep my base safe. They did go against each other a bit while I was refilling ammo, but mostly I was the target. But alas, our friend and I scored 2 points and my husband just scored 1. Not bad for a first time shooter, I must say.
Our rover drive was scheduled for 2:30PM, so we had a little time to fresh up after the shooting. So the Rover is like a four wheeled electric scooter meets buggy moment. First you have to get yourself into protective gear – knee caps, elbow caps, helmets, gel gloves and goggles. We each got our own rover and we have a guide who takes us around, after giving us a short tutorial on how to operate it. As scary as it was navigating it on rocky uneven terrain, the feeling of freedom, the feeling cool breeze brush past you once you get comfortable with riding it was liberating, I do not know if words will ever do justice to what I felt while I took that ride. It relieves you of all the stress your going through as your so focused on not crashing and falling. Beware, getting the rover to turn is something that you have to be very careful with or you could just topple. We had 2 pit stops for taking photos and taking in the view and it was breath-taking. The rover that my husband used had a little bit of an accident while we were almost getting done with the trip, the axel broke and he fell. But since we had all the protective gear, he escaped with a small scratch on his finger. So they called in for another rover and we reached back to base safely. It was a 45 minutes ride and time just flew by.
As I quoted above, age is never a barrier when it comes to having fun! Spontaneous trips and adventures make our life so much better. We end up making memories which we cherish for the rest of our life. We never forget our first and I know for a fact that I will never forget how I felt in that shooting arena and while riding the rover. I felt liberated, I felt in control and it was amazing. I will definitely recommend it to anyone who would enjoy a little adventure.
Choose to do the things that make you happy. That is the only factor that will leaving a lasting mark in your life.
